Early Years (Nursery – Reception)

It is during the first few years at school that children will develop their curiosity, enthusiasm and love for learning. We aim to ensure that every child is engaged and motivated through our broad and varied curriculum and each one is challenged and extended on an individual basis.

A love of stories is nurtured from an early age. The focus is on exploring the world through physical, sensory and practical play. The girls also have lessons in Spanish, music, gymnastics and dance. Teachers look for creative and inventive ways to help the girls learn about the world around them in a meaningful way for example, recently, Reception children held a Skype conversation with Australian Fire Fighters to discuss the bushfire crisis.

Girls have daily access to the outdoor classroom for role play, art activities, bikes and much more; have weekly cooking lessons which include hygiene and health and safety; and enjoy a variety of trips throughout the year to places such as theatres, galleries, parks and palaces.

At the end of the academic year our Reception and Nursery classes put on a school play for the whole school and their parents to watch.
