Dance

Dance lessons start in the Pre-Preparatory (Nursery) class, with an emphasis on having fun through musical games and learning exercises to help the girls gain control of their movements.

From Lower I (Year 1) the girls learn ballet based on the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus as well as other dance skills to extend their repertoire. In Key Stage 2 every year group learns a dance routine to showcase their ballet and dancing skills. This is performed to their parents in an Open Dance class in the Summer Term.

In Third form, the girls learn a contemporary dance to popular music that is performed to parents and the whole school in assembly; they also go on to try their hand at choreography.

“One of the things I love about Village Prep is that the girls develop confidence and a solid sense of self that comes across to the entire community.

The girls are kind and sweet to one another, they model positive behaviour not only by being academically driven but by being community-minded. I see that there is a strong love of learning that is nourished among the students.

As a parent, I feel that Village Prep is a safe space for young women to flourish and be the best versions of themselves. “
