The House System

The Village Prep School girls develop a sense of teamwork and responsibility at an early age. From Lower I (Year 1), girls are put into houses: Swifts or Swallows, which they keep until they move up to Transition (Year 3).

In Transition they join the Middle and Upper School houses of Eagles and Falcons. The girls are encouraged to develop an allegiance to their house which is demonstrated through the acquisition of house points awarded for good work, courteous behaviour and on the sports field. Our inter-house netball tournaments and the annual sports day, promote a healthy sense of both competition and camaraderie.

In their final year, with their growing maturity, the girls take on more responsibility. They are appointed as school officers and, as such, give help and support to teachers and younger girls alike. We believe that this relationship provides valuable life skills for all the children.
